Case Description
My husband has finally agreed to do something about his teeth. There is a large gap between most of his top teeth and general discoloration. He hasn't been to the dentist in more than a decade. His confidence has gotten worse and worse over the years and he barely smiles any more! I have been looking into lumineers, but am concerned about the decision and the price. Do you know if insurance covers any of the cost? Are people generally happy with the results? Can you eat normally, do they fall off at all? Thanks!

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description,
special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more
reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors.
Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

First his mouth needs to be healthy..healthy gums, no tooth decay. Lumineers are very thin and transparent...not a good choice for discolored teeth and not covered by insurance usually. There is a solution that will restore a good appearance. Yes you can eat normally and they don''''t fall off.You can expect to pay approximately $1000 per tooth...and even if insurance helps..it is used up after one or two teeth. But, how better can you spend your money than to restore health and self confidence? Please call my office if you think we can help you reach your goals.

HelloThank you for your request. Lumineers do not work for everyone, careful case selection is very important in long-term success. First, your husband needs to come in for a general consultation to evaluate the health of gums and bone around those teeth as they are supporting structures, much like a foundation for the house. Second, the teeth need to be evaluated for any presence of cavities, If cavities are present, he may need to have porcelain crowns which will be a good cosmetic and functional solution. Insurance typically covers crowns at 50%, some insurance companies do cover veneers, some don''''''''''''''''t. Most insurance have a maximum benefit of 1,000 or 1,500 per year. The total cost for cosmetic work is typically much higher than that. To give you a definite answer I would recommend your husband to come in to the office for a complimentary consultation and we can go over all the options once we gather all necessary information.

You have received some excellent advice and I would agree will all of them.Identify your problems first, then look for solutions (veneers) to those problems later.Find someone who will listen to your concerns and work out a long term plan.Good luck.

Hello and thanks for the inquiry. It would be necessary to perform a comprehensive examination of your husband''''s dentition to determine the best type of restoration for him. Insurance usually provides coverage towards crowns but many have limitations for veneers, depending on the situation. It is also important to have the back "posterior" teeth restored and in good condition so the front teeth are adequately supported to prevent failure of those restorations. It would be best to schedule your husband for a good cleaning (prophy), xrays and exam to develop an appropriate treatment plan. We accept and file most insurances and can also pre-authorize any treatment at your request so you will know your financial obligations prior to treatment. We look forward to meeting you! Congratulations to your husband on his decision to pursue dental health. Few of us could go a decade without care and not suffer some dental destruction. Every type of veneer uses bonding to hold on. I liken them to the glue on the shower soap dish -- great for soap, but if you chin yourself or hang on them the hold will give. But there are places in every rehabilitated smile for veneers, Lumineers, and crowns.Your husband needs to get his dental health updated, including a complete examination. This will give all of us a good idea of what is needed, the choices available, and the costs. To get all of this accomplished might cost up to $300.Since you don''''''''t know us, I would suggest a complimentary tour and look see. He will get some information, and if he feels comfortabe with us, he can schedule the exam. You, of course, may come too.
