Case Description
I May 07 I had a prep work done for a crown that went bad for #8. My gum and toothe became infected and my gumline had recession. I think something was done wrong. I have been in pain for month. My gums are swollen, read pain when biting down. I had a root canal treament in August 07 by a general dentist that did it without a through evaluation. It did not work I am still in pain. Now it is being recommended that i have a apicoe, gum surgery, since the root canal did not work. I have been in pain for month and have been so stressed and in tears over this ordeal. I cant continue this. I am considering having the tooth extracted and get an inplant to work towards a closure. I have had a temporary crown on since May, I had to relocate to the Columbus area in June 07. Can anyone help me bring this to and end so I can start enjoying Columbus?

When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Hello. I''''''''m sorry to hear about your cont''''''''d pain but #8 should be easy to remedy. I would recommend that you have it evaluated by an endodontist to see if the tooth is restorable by retreatment with a possible apicoectomy, or if the tooth is fractured, is it periodontally involved, does it have adequate bone and gingivalperio support for a restoration, and evaluate the occlusion and parafunctional forces on this tooth. If possible, I would encourage you to try to save the tooth prior to choosing an implant. The "gum" tissue and papilla will be more natural looking if currently sufficient. If needed, an experienced oral surgeon or periodontist can place the implant along with an experienced restorative/cosmetic dentist to restore the implant supported crown. Nice results can be achieved. If you would like endodontic referrals, please call our office for one that is near you. We restore endodontically treated natural teeth and implants too. Let us know if we can be of assistance to you.
